Frequently Asked Questions

I'm 18, 19, or 20 — do I need drivers ed now?
Yes. Beginning September 30, 2025, Ohioans age 18, 19, and 20 are required to complete an Ohio-approved "Class D" driver training course and 50 hours of supervised driving practice with a licensed adult before they can schedule a driving test with an Ohio driver license examiner. Heights Driving School offers this course both online and in person.
How long is the Drivers Ed (24/8) course?
The full course includes 24 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training. Classroom sessions can be completed online or in person at one of our locations. Behind-the-wheel sessions are scheduled individually at your convenience.
Is the remedial course available online?
Yes! Our 8-hour Adult Remedial course is available online.
What does the senior assessment include?
Our senior assessment includes a clinical evaluation, a comprehensive behind-the-wheel assessment, and a full written report with personalized recommendations. It's designed to help families and physicians make informed decisions about driving safety.
Do you offer programs for people with disabilities?
Absolutely. We serve drivers with a wide range of conditions including ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and more. Each program is tailored to the individual's needs with specialized equipment and instruction.
